SENTRO BOHOLANO or the BOHOL CENTER FOR CULTURAL AFFAIRS AND DEVELOPMENT is currently being established under the auspices of the Office of Governor Rene Lopez Relamapagos of the Provincial Government of Bohol. Spearheaded in March 1997 by Lutgardo L. Labad, a nationally recognized theatre director and music composer whose parentage hails from Bohol, SENTRO BOHOLANO aims to catapult into reality a CULTURAL RENAISSANCE within the Boholano society as it leaps into the next millenium. Inspired by the Provincial Vision of making Bohol an eco-cultural destination, SENTRO BOHOLANO aims to contribute to it by facilitating the artistic and cultural development of the Boholano people. Its basic strategies include: Preservation and Revitalization of Bohol's Cultural Heritage, the Cultural Empowerment of all sectors of Boholano society through Training and Production, Developing Cultural Sustainability through Cultural Tourism, and Networking and Promotions. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

APRIL 19, 1999 UP TILL MAY 30 1999: BANSAY SA TING-INIT: the yearly summer workshop on the arts. This summer's concentration:THEATRE IN EDUCATION, theatre workshops for elementary and high school teachers and students towards developing creative and dynamic school-based drama groups in Bohol. JULY 1-30, 1999: SANDUGO AND THE CONBUSAC INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 1999 BOHOL ARTS FESTIVAL in conjunction with the above events, featuring: ---TEATRO BOL-ANON's performance of DAGON SA HOYOHOY, a full-length musical on the life and times of the celebrated anti-Spanish Boholano hero, DAGOHOY ---LOBOC CHILDREN'S CHOIR AND DIMIAO CHILDREN'S RONDALLA in concert together with other Boholano performers ---A CULTURAL SUMMER EXCHANGE CAMP for Boholano-American Youth | |||||||||||||||||||||||

We invite you to enjoy the artistic and cultural activities of our province. | As Boholanos living outside of Bohol, you will be inspired by the new and emerging cultural spirit that is slowly spreading in communities, towns and schools. The LOBOC CHILDREN'S CHOIR, the DIMIAO CHILDREN'S RONDALLA, and the DECS TEEN THEATRE GROUP are now national landmarks, having won FIRST PRIZES in their respective categories at the national level. The recently established TEATRO BOL-ANON, the first community repertory theatre company in Bohol, is proud to invite you to their production of DAGON SA HOYOHOY, the first Boholano full-length musical portraying the life and times of Francisco Dagohoy. All these developments attest to the creative ingenuity of the Boholano. And for visitors and tourists, come and enjoy the wholesome and holistic experience that our province and people can provide you.
